summer update

summer update

Hi everyone! It has been a crazy summer so far, and I can’t believe how fast it’s going. So much has happened already. I have spent a ton of time with my friends and done a ton of cool stuff. exploring downtown, cedar point, the beach, movies, Crocker park, cavs watch parties, and more. People are always complaining that there is nothing to do in Brunswick/Ohio but there are so many cool things you can do without spending a lot of money! Some ideas are clay park, edgewater/Huntington Beach, whips ledges, canoeing at hinckley, West side market, the Aut-O-Rama drive in, or get cheap (but really good) food in Medina square.

I have also learned a lot of hard but valuable lessons this summer, people aren’t always what they seem, no matter how long you have known them or how well you think you know them, they can surprise you and turn out to be completely different. I have also learned the value of true friends. True friends will stick up for you in all situations, and stay by your side when times are tough. And sometimes it’s better to have a few true friends then dozens of acquaintances. On that note I also think there is something to be said about putting down your phone. Constantly I have been sucked into drama or fights this summer that wouldn’t have existed if it weren’t for group chats or Snapchat, and stupid things have led to huge fights. I will go to check my phone and suddenly realize that 45 Minutes have passed while I was wasting my time on crazy drama. I honestly feel so much better when I check in with a few friends and then just put my phone down and go swimming or read a book. It is SO easy, especially in this day in age, to get caught up in the drama around you. But sometimes you have to put everything in perspective and realize how lucky you are, and how these seemingly huge problems are actually so insignificant.

As the date marking the new school year gets closer, I can’t help but feel a little excited, for cheerleading, homecoming, football games, seeing people that you haven’t seen all summer & even starting new classes! I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day (and summer) lots! Thankyou for reading

Alexandria Theiss – Class of 2020

Hi! My name is Alexandria Theiss and I’m going into 10th grade at BHS this fall. I am going to be on the Dancin Devils team during basketball season and (hopefully) cheerleading this fall. I’m also a member of PBIS, Voft, and Student Council. I love to read, watch movies, take pictures, and explore new places. Some other random facts about me, I have a pet hedgehog, I love mermaids (and wish they were real), bacon is my favorite food, I dance on the competitive company at Elite Dance Academy, and I am very clumsy/have terrible luck (which has caused very embarrassing moments). This summer I plan on spending a lot of time with my friends, watching Netflix, swimming, going to concerts, and going to Cedar Point. In future blog posts, you can expect to see me writing about my friends, sports, and other things going on at the High School. The first picture below is me at the beach last summer and the second picture is me and my friend Andrea before cheering at the Homecoming game last fall!
